SOLUTION 13
interview by Ian C Stewart

Finnish metal band Solution 13 was formed in Oulu, Finland in 2000. Playing aggressive metal with grooves, and originally called Confusion Red, the band changed names based on a suggestion by Sentenced vocalist Ville Laihiala. Solution 13 is "from the UPC of our national drink, Koskenkorva." They tapped Sentenced bassist Sami Kukkohovi for their debut demo CD. The process went so well that he joined the band full time.

Their self-titled album on Low Frequency Records was produced by Kari Vähäkuopus. The songs were "mostly written in jam sessions. The next album will be written in a totally different way. While recording, our guitar player Sääskö could only manage to play the riff to 'Regression' while he was watching porn." Working from a foundation of "Slayer, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity and Hellacopters. That's what we try to do with our stuff: mix aggressive metal with rock. We just signed a deal with the biggest booking agency in Finland, Welldone. So we plan to play live as much as we can. Also we've written a few new songs for the next album."
